Plugins and skills

Give your assistant tools for documents, the browser and external services.

Plugins, tools and skills

A plugin adds capabilities: tools, skills or an interface. A tool performs an action, such as reading a document. A skill contains instructions for a particular kind of work.

Installing a plugin does not sign you in to an external account. If a plugin needs a service, connect it separately in connection settings.

Find a capability

Open the workspace's plugin catalog and find a plugin for your task. Read its description and tool list. Installation and activation require the appropriate permissions.

The project includes capabilities for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email, browsers, repositories and other services. The exact set in your workspace depends on installed plugins and the available operating mode.

Prepare the assistant

  1. Make sure the required plugin is enabled in the workspace.
  2. Check that its tools and skills are available to the selected assistant.
  3. Connect an external account if needed.
  4. Review permissions and try a small task.

Reading a familiar document or finding an email makes a useful first test. You can then ask the assistant to change data while reviewing its proposed actions.

If a capability is missing

Check the selected workspace and your permissions. Computer-control tools depend on the client and operating system permissions. Installing a plugin alone does not give the browser access to your computer.

If setup requires a key or workspace-level provider settings, contact the owner. Do not paste a secret key into a normal conversation.
