Automations

Schedule one-off or recurring work for your assistant.

Create a schedule

Open Automations or the selected assistant's jobs section. Create a job, choose an assistant and describe what should happen on each run.

Set the timing: once, at a recurring interval or on a schedule. Check the time zone. A cron expression is available for complex schedules; use it only if you understand the resulting run times.

Check before the first run

Make sure the selected assistant has access to the project, files and external services. If result delivery is configured, check the channel and recipient.

Run the job manually and review the result. Then check the next scheduled run time: a manual run tests the instruction, not whether the future schedule is correct.

View history

Open the automation and its run history. Check the time of the last attempt, the result and any errors. Successful execution and delivery to a channel are separate stages.

If a notification has not arrived, check the history first. The assistant may have completed the work and then failed to send the result. Running it again could repeat an external action.

Pause or change an automation

Pausing keeps the job but stops future runs. After changing instructions or a connection, test the job again and resume the schedule.

If the job is no longer needed, delete it from the schedule. This does not undo messages already sent or automatically delete documents created in external services.

Requirements for background work

A schedule needs an available working environment. In Local, the computer and app must remain running; a computer that is turned off cannot execute the job.

Long-running assistant work, project tasks and automations are different ways to organize work. Use a project task for a result that needs review, and a schedule for work that repeats over time.
